Hello, I'm Ines
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Relocating to Portugal wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The first months were intense — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adaptation Phase
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and learning on the go. Gradually, routines settled in. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
What Prompted Me to Create SimpleGardenByte
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ines
